CHEESE & WINE PARING SUGGESTIONS:
 

 

Let us begin our cheese/wine pairing adventure with a premise: there is no 'right' or 'wrong' when pairing. You like what you like...it is your palate! So, keep in mind, these are just recommendations, not law. In order to learn you must experiment with your own pairing combinations and see what satisfies your buds. In doing so, there are some pretty noticeable conflicts that will help you understand what makes mouths happy and what prompts an opposite reaction. Let's begin!

It is a pretty well known fact that wine and cheese have gone hand in hand for centuries, however since there are several varieties of cheeses and an even more abundant amount of grape varietals, there are just a few tricks of the trade you might want to consider. 

 

  • Tip #1: Pairing wines and cheeses from the same region is a good, “safe” place to start wine and cheese combinations. 
  • Tip #2: Harder types of cheese (i.e. Cheddar or Parmesan) can handle more tannic wines.
  • Tip #3: Creamy cheeses, such as Brie, typically pair better with wines that have more acidity. 
  • Tip #4: Salty cheeses generally merit a sweet wine partner (i.e. Blue Cheese and Port).
