Can you tell me a bit about your wine tastings?

Our tasting are meant to be a fun, modern and more social way of learning the various complexities of wine, minus the pretension. The wine pouring starts as soon as you walk through the door. All of the series of events are a strategic part of the class and thereby the process of learning. From the moment someone pours you a drink, your senses begin working. In my classes, I am teaching people the mechanics of dissecting the wine effortlessly; before they try to conjure up the "appropriate" adjective to describe what is tasted. Each tasting is based on blind-tasting. The grape is revealed after we have thoroughly extracted the nuances that make it distinctive.

We select a grape beforehand and that is what we are discussing for that tasting event. This is a very interesting approach to learning wine because it is not based on a traditional curriculum that focuses dominantly on any one particular thing, rather several integral components that make wine, make sense. We explore the facets of what everyone is drinking and interaction is highly encouraged. The mission is to become a more confident wine consumer by acquiring more knowledge not just about wine itself, but about the application of that knowledge via pairings and daily life.
When are the tasting event offered?
Our general or group tasting events are offered Sundays at 5pm for 90 minutes. We discuss not only wines, the regions, soil and serving techniques but we taste small dishes appropriate for pairing and a smorgasbord of cheeses. Because it is a leisure day for many, I want us to have a grand-ole time!
The private tastings are available upon request. We are a specialty wine events company so our focus is on cultivating an ideal epicurean tasting and pairing event for your group, organization and/or company.
What kind of wines do you have for the tastings?
Our tastings are based on a curriculum where various regions are discussed along with soil types and of course the very integrity of the grape itself. We taste grapes (the same grape in a blind tasting method) from all over the world. For instance, if the class is tasting Sauvignon Blanc, we may enjoy 4 different wines each from a specific region i.e. New Zealand, Sancerre, South Africa and Dry Creek Valley. The idea is to understand what the same grape can do understand different climatic constraints, assess the vintage and soil types. Also, things like, why the labels tell a story and how seeing the design of the bottle gives you clues about the wine maker's vision for the wine. I love tricks of the trade because that's what helps us learn and gives you a better sense of direction when searching for the right bottle, for the right meal.

What kinds of cheeses will be paired with them?

Within each time frame, there are pre-selected grapes where we focus on understanding why these wines taste the way they do and why they pair best with certain cheeses. You really learn practical techniques that enables you to pair effective; how the marriage of cheese and wine can nspire the other and we explore why. You can also take a look a suggested wine and cheese pairings under the WINE DOWN tab.
03
Do the tastings become more and more advanced with each attendance?

We would say the level of difficulty is pretty consistent throughout. The classes aren't meant to be difficult or easy, just fun and educational. We want our patrons to be able to skip a tasting or two and hop right back in and learn a different grape and enjoy the exploration of new wines and cheeses.
04
Are there different tastings to choose from?

Because the tastings are based on blind tasting technique and it is not publicized, the only thing to choose is which day(s) and time(s) best suits YOU. Whichever tasting you attend, you are guaranteed to learn fun facts, interesting information that will enable you to become more proficient in the selection of wine and how to be impressive and knowledgeable in social interactions. You can however always email us for preferences of red or white wines and we can recommend time frames as they are seasonally designed.
